Hemorrhoids Relief: Home Remedies for Constipation

When you rarely have a bowel movement, or it takes you a lot of effort to pass stool, you have constipation. If this is the case, you might be looking for information on how to get rid of constipation naturally.

Well, you’ve reached to the right place. The causes for constipation can vary, but the main reasons are stress, irregular diet and consuming a lot of white flour, processed products and fried food.

Whatever the reason for constipation is, the symptoms are usually associated with hard stools or difficulty passing them.

You may have pain while passing stools or you might be unable to have a bowel movement after straining or pushing for more than 10 minutes.

In addition to the discomfort in the constipation itself, it is often accompanied with headaches, gas, and in severe cases even hemorrhoids.
Home Remedies for Constipation

Eat fiber
Food products fortified with dietary fibers or foods containing them naturally are known for their ability to help the digestive system.

Insoluble fibers absorb water on their way out of the body, and thereby soften the stool and increase its volume, which encourages easy and fast bowel movements. You can find fiber in whole grains including rice and buckwheat, as well as in nuts and almonds.

Drink lots of water
Without adequate consumption of fluids, consuming dietary fiber will only worsen the constipation. It is important to drink at least eight glasses a day.

In addition, adequate intake of water helps cleanse the body and helps in metabolism. If you don’t like the taste of plain water, you can make your own flavored water, drink honey lemon water or herbal teas, such as these teas to improve digestion.

Coconut oil
Virgin unrefined coconut oil helps to speed up metabolism and cleanse your body of excess waste. To get rid of constipation, mix 1 tsp. of unrefined virgin coconut oil with 8-oz. glass of natural juice or herbal tea and drink.

Repeat 3-4 times per day at least 30 minutes before each meal.

Castor oil
Castor oil is another natural remedy to cure constipation and it is one the best natural laxatives for constipation. It works by increasing the movement of the intestines, helping the stool to come out.

Eat prunes and dried figs
Dried fruits in general, and particularly prunes, can help the digestive system to function well. Prunes are especially good for curing constipation because they are rich in sorbitol, which encourages bowel movement.

It is recommended to soak the prunes in boiling water for a few hours, eat them and drink the water they have been soaked in, preferably in the morning before a meal.

Fresh tomato puree, beetroot and kiwifruit
Eating fresh tomato puree along with a tablespoon of olive oil will help the intestines to function properly and this can prevent constipation.

So does eating a nice dose of fresh beetroot. Also a number of human clinical studies have found that eating kiwifruit is highly effective way to provide relief from constipation.

Don’t peel fruits and vegetables
Another excellent source of dietary fiber is the natural skin of the fruits and vegetables we eat. Instead of peeling your produce, let your mouth work a little harder, and allow yourself two fruits a day with their skin.

They are also an excellent source of unprocessed sugar, and can serve as a natural snack that will soothe and settle the gut. - Online Sources
